  Access

Get out the Yak-Pak and load up the overnight self-support gear- you're goin Backpack'in! It's about 8.5 miles from the trail head to the put-in.

Some motivated paddlers choose to make a day trip out of this run. You should not attempt this unless Class V boating in remote wilderness canyons is something that is second nature to you, and or you are in fantastic physical shape. Besides, it's so nice in there, why hurry?

  Putin Details

basicaly once the trail finds the river again, you can set up camp. You're at the put-in.

  Takeout Details

Lake Mills Resevoir. There is a steep trail you can hike up and out on the North end of the lake, but you'll probably decide it's easier to simply paddle the extra mile or three to the downstream end of the lake.

  Other Issues

This is a remote wilderness run. Once you are in the canyon(s) you may find it very difficult to get out by any means other than kayaking downstream. Still, take a topo map. There are a few access points halfway through between the upper canyon and Rica Canyon.

  Fun Facts

probably some of the very best geology for whitewater on the OP.
